Ecofriendly Urban Mobility

The advent of modern rail based MRTS for cities in India ushered new era in BEML’s Rail & Metro Business. Metro train is for Mass Rapid Urban Transit designated to operate within a municipal/urban limit/densely populated area and to provide better transportation to commuters by decongesting the dense traffic conditions. The Metro trains are designed for frequent starting/stopping and high deceleration/acceleration with higher commuter density.

For the first urban transit project undertaken by DMRC for its Phase-1, BEML and Rotem signed a Technical CollaborationAgreement during 2002. As on date, BEML has supplied over 1,100 Metro Cars for various projects in India.
